Projects
The Projects module helps you plan a body of work, break it into tasks, assign those tasks to people, and track progress to completion. It is a light, easy-to-scan planner: an overview of where every project stands, plus lists you can create from directly. If you are new to Warka, read Getting Started first for how the section tabs and Create drawers work.
Open Projects from the sidebar. You need a Projects role (Projects User or Projects Manager). Creating and editing is available to users with manage permission; if you do not see the create buttons, ask an administrator. See the Administration guide.
The Projects sections
The module has three tabs: Overview, Projects, and Tasks.
The Overview tab shows four figures at a glance (Total Projects, In Progress, Completed, and Open Tasks) and an Active Projects panel with a progress bar for each current project.
Creating a project
- Open the Projects tab and click New Project.
- In the drawer, fill in Project name (required).
- Optionally set the status (Open, Completed, or Cancelled), priority, project type, start and end dates, estimated cost, percent complete, and link a customer, department, or company.
- Add any notes and click Create.
Creating a task
- Open the Tasks tab and click New Task.
- Fill in Subject (required).
- Optionally choose the Project the task belongs to, its priority, status (Open, Working, Pending Review, Overdue, Completed, or Cancelled), and type.
- Set the schedule and effort with Expected hours, Start date, Due date, and Progress (a percentage). You can also mark it a milestone or link a parent task.
- Use Assign To to pick one or more team members who should work on the task.
- Add a description and click Create.
Tracking time and progress
Time and effort are tracked on the task itself. Use the Expected hours field to record the planned effort and the Progress field to record how far along the task is. As tasks progress, each project's overall percentage updates on the Overview tab so you can see momentum at a glance. Warka does not currently include a separate timesheet screen in the web app; hours and progress are captured on tasks.
